Sources of Recommendations
This report's recommendations flow from the work generated in Tasks 1, 2, and 3 of the Assessing and Sustaining the Quality of the America's Byways® Collection project, as well as the input from Program staff, State and Indian tribe byway coordinators, and local byway managers. In order to focus this report's broad recommendations and quantitative analyses to a set of priority actions, ideas meriting inclusion in this report needed to:
- Address clear weaknesses or problems within the Program
- Focus on concerns that have been repeatedly raised by the byway community
- Address concerns raised by Program staff
- Comfortably fit within the Program's history of grassroots initiative and
- Offer creative, simple approaches
