Grant Articles Updated on Bywaysonline.org and Grants.gov Reminder
The "What We've Heard from You" article, http://www.bywaysonline.org/grants/articles/73646, has been updated to reflect the questions that were answered during the Grant Outreach calls conducted by the Federal Highway Administration in January. During these calls, all of the eight eligibility categories were addressed, as well as the process of writing a good application. Also, new items have been added to the "Commonly Made Mistakes" article, available here: http://www.bywaysonline.org/grants/articles/73499. Please use these articles as an additional resource when filling out the Grant Application and continue to familiarize yourself with the information available at http://www.bywaysonline.org/grants, including the FY 2009 Grant Information and Useful Information.
With the March 13th deadline for SF-424 submissions quickly approaching, please make sure you have completed the Grants.gov registration process, including your registration with http://www.ccr.gov. You will not be able to submit your SF-424 through the Grants.gov website unless you have an active CCR registration or if you are not authorized as an AOR for your organization. Historic Times and Places Activities Lanches on Byways.org
A collection of new Historic Times and Places activity stories are now available to travelers on www.byways.org. According to our Consumer Research as well as the Office of Travel and Tourism Industries Overseas Traveler profile, visiting historic places ranks within the top 5 activities that both domestic and international visitors enjoy. The FHWA and National Scenic Byways Online team continue to develop stories and features consistent with the overall approach and messaging strategies associated with the America's Byways Consumer Research findings, available on the America’s Byways Resource Center website.

Guide to Promoting Bicycling on Federal Lands
The FHWA Central Federal Lands Highway Division published the Guide to Promoting Bicycling on Federal Lands (HTML / PDF). Bicycling facilities are important transportation and recreation links to connect gateway communities, visitor centers, campgrounds, trailheads, and other attractions. This report presents benefits of bicycling, successful programs, policies that support bicycling, issues and challenges faced by land managers, and resources available to help meet these challenges.

United States Forest Service Report on Successful Partnerships
The USDA Forest
Service Recreation Program has issued a report, National Forest Scenic Byways Program: Partnership Success Stories showing how the USFS has been able to leverage many enhanced environmental, social, and economic benefits around its byway corridors and rural gateway communities. America's Byways included in this report are: Edge of the Wilderness (MN), Kancamagus Scenic Byway (NH), Logan Canyon Scenic Byway (UT), McKenzie Pass-Santiam Pass Scenic Byway (OR), North Shore Scenic Drive (MN), Peter Norbeck Scenic Byway (SD), and San Juan Skyway (CO), as well as the America's Byways website, http://www.byways.org.
