Announcing new opportunities for your byway, community or project to receive special recognition:
Preserve America is a White House initiative to preserve our national heritage. It was developed in cooperation with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, the U.S. Department of the Interior, and the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The Preserve America Presidential Award
initiative presents opportunities for individuals and organizations to receive special recognition for their commitment to the protection and interpretation of America’s history and resources. The Preserve America Communities
designation recognizes exceptional efforts to use cultural and natural resources to promote tourism, revitalize the community, create jobs, and educate the public.
Both awards are honorific in nature. Presidential Award winners will be chosen through a national competition administered by the Secretary of the Interior and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP), in cooperation with the Executive Office of the President. Presidential Awards will be announced during National Historic Preservation Week, May 3 through May 9, 2004, and the President and Mrs. Bush will recognize recipients at an annual event.
Anyone can submit a nomination. Award nominations must be received by January 15, 2004.
Complete information and nomination forms for both awards can be found at www.PreserveAmerica.gov.
