The Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21) will expire on September 30, 2003. TEA-21 was enacted on June 9, 1998, and authorizes the Federal surface transportation programs for highways, highway safety, and transit for the 6-year period from 1998-2003.
The United States Department of Transportation (DOT) is preparing for the reauthorization of surface transportation programs by working with Congress, State and local officials, tribal governments, and other stakeholders to develop its proposals.
DOT welcomes public comments on this important program. You may submit your input through the reauthorization section of the DOT’s website, at www.fhwa.dot.gov/reauthorization. This website provides relevant information on past and current reauthorization programs and their accomplishments, a timeline, and status report.
