Byways Coordinator will be responsible for hiring consultant(s) through NJDOT consultant selection process and will act as project manager throughout the project. Continuing education Aug 01, 2008 48 months NJ Scenic Byways Coordinator This task includes continuing education for the Byways Coordinator to attend conferences such as the National Scenic Byways Conference and seminars and classes such as grant writing, preservation easements, funding sources, etc that can assist with better development of the program and better assistance to the byways. Continuing education would allow the Byways Coordinator to obtain knowledge on topics, to partake in peer-to-peer exchanges, and to gain insight in moving this program forward so that more assistance can be given to the byway sponsors or potential byways. Preparation of display and educational material for use at public meetings Aug 04, 2008 4 months NJ Scenic Byways Coordinator and staff This task involves the preparation of educational and display material that will be used for meetings that the BywaysCoordinator will attend to inform the NJ public about the NJ State Scenic Byways Program. Material will be prepared by the Byways Coordinator and staff. Education of public and potential byway sponsors about the NJ Scenic Byways Program AAD + 1 month* 48 months NJ Scenic Byways Coordinator With this task, the Byways Coordinator will attend meetings and present information about the NJ Scenic Byways Program to the League of Municipalities, state departments, counties, MPOs, potential sponsors, and others. Workshops Sep 01, 2008 48 months NJ Scenic Byways Coordinator with guest speakers This task involves sponsoring workshops for the byways, potential byways, scenic byways advisory committee, counties, and consultants involved with the scenic byways program. Workshops will include topics that affect the byways and can assist the sponsors with improving their byways to provide a better traveler’s experience for the user of the byway. Possible topics are signing byways, wayfinding, marketing, grant writing, visitor experiences, fundraising, and sustainability. Workshops allow byway sponsors peer-to-peer exchanges and the chance to ask questions that the sponsors might otherwise not have the opportunity to do. Byways Coordinator and staff will be responsible for sponsor workshops, preparing material, and obtaining speakers. Revise "NJ Scenic Byways Application" AAD + 4 months* 3 months Consultant with input from NJ Scenic Byways Coordinator This task involves revising the "NJ Scenic Byways Application". Task shall include updates to document. At least one progress meeting will be held between the consultant and the Scenic Byways Coordinator. Ten draft color copies of the revised application shall be printed for review by advisory committee. All changes suggested by committee shall be incorporated into updated application. One revised copy shall be reprinted and reviewed by Scenic Byway Coordinator before final printing. Revise "The New Jersey Scenic Byways Program" manual originally printed in Feb 95 AAD + 4 months* 6 months Consultant with input from NJ Scenic Byways Coordinator and Advisory Committee This task involves revising "The New Jersey Scenic Byways Program" manual originally printed in Feb 95. NJ has since revised our program to a two step program. Task shall include initial meeting between consultant and Byways Coordinator to discuss changes needed to manual and at least five progress meetings. At least one additional meeting with the Advisory Committee shall occur to discuss all updates to the procedures and ten draft color copies of the revised manual shall be printed for review by advisory committee. All changes suggested by committee shall be incorporated into updated manual. One revised copy shall be reprinted and reviewed by the Byways Coordinator before final printing. Development of Guidelines manual AAD + 4 months* 12 months Consultant, NJ Scenic Byways Coordinator, and Advisory Committee This task involves the development of a guidelines manual which needs to address issues that have not been addressed or finalized by the Byways Coordinator/Advisory Committee but are necessary to move the program forward. Task shall include initial meeting between consultant and Byways Coordinator to discuss manual, at least 5 progress meetings, & at least 2 additional meetings with coordinator and advisory committee to discuss these updates to the guidelines. 10 draft color copies of the revised manual shall be printed for review by advisory committee. All changes shall be incorporated into updated manual. 1 revised copy shall be reprinted & reviewed by Byways Coordinator before final printing. Byways Coordinator will take the lead in working with the consultant. Development of a more dynamic NJ Scenic Byways Website for information on the NJ State Scenic Byways Program AAD + 5 months* 12 months Website consultant, NJ Scenic Byways Coordinator, Byway Staff This task involves technical assistance with creation of a more dynamic website for the NJ Scenic Byways Program and assistance with the development of on-line information that will assist potential byways with scenic byway designation and assist the byway traveler with information about the byways located within New Jersey. Consultant (if determined necessary), Byways Coordinator and NJDOT staff shall work together on development of this website. Development of a "How to" CD for assessing the possibility of developing a state byway and process for applying fordesignation AAD + 5 months* 12 months NJ Scenic Byways Coordinator, and byway staff with assistance by Website consultant This task involves the development of a "how to" CD that can assist a grassroots group in assessing the possibility of developing a state byway and in the process for applying to the state for scenic byway designation. Byways Coordinator will determine the involvement level needed by the consultant to assist with the preparation of the CD and shall work with NJDOT staff and consultant (if so determined) to produce information. 200 copies of finalized disc will be created for coordinator to use for mailing and presentations. Print "NJ Scenic Byways Application" Mar 02, 2009 1 month Consultant This task involves the final printing of "The New Jersey Scenic Byways Application". Final printing shall be done in color and shall include 150 bound copies and 200 discs. Print revised copy of "The New Jersey Scenic Byways Program" manual. Jun 01, 2009 1 month Consultant with input from NJ Scenic Byways Coordinator This task involves the final printing of "The New Jersey Scenic Byways Program" manual. Final printing shall bedone in color and shall include 150 bound copies and 200 discs. Print guidelines manual. Dec 01, 2009 1 month Consultant This task involves the final printing of "Guidelines" manual. Final printing shall be done in color and shall include 150 bound copies and 200 discs.
