Good example of an Abstract/Project Description:
This project will further implement the long-term marketing initiative which promotes travel along the collection of Maryland’s 19 Byways. The application requests funds to expand the state’s annual print and electronic advertising program, implementation of 4 to 6 down-loadable "dashboard tours", an assessment to prioritize the market and historical significance of the byway themes and a group tour promotion of the 2009 American Bus Association Annual Marketplace.
This project benefits the byway traveler because it is the primary marketing mechanism that will inform them about the Guidebook and Map – the "must haves" when exploring Maryland Byways. Additionally, the down-loadable "dashboard tours" will provide enhanced information on how to travel the byways. The thematic and interpretive assessment will allow the state program to prioritize the order in which byways complete and implement Corridor Management Plans based on the consumer demand for themes, stories and experiences and permit better integration with the state’s Heritage Areas.
This is a good example because it:
- Is simple and well-focused
- Summarizes specifically what the project will do
- Describes what the benefit to the byway traveler will be
- Only provides the information the reviewer needs to determine eligibility
