Less Successful Example of an Abstract/Project Description:
If funded, the project will provide the only public restrooms in the city. In addition to the restrooms, the project will provide the completion of space for tour groups to gather for orientations before tours of the County Courthouse. This orientation space will include interpretive exhibits on the County Courthouse and the area.
The project benefits the byway traveler by providing conveniently located clean public restrooms and interpretive orientation space that will provide the traveler with a better understanding of the history of the County Courthouse and the stone construction techniques common in the area. As outlined, the creation of these facilities will fulfill multiple goals established by the Corridor Management Plan.
This example is less successful because it:
- Is unclear what the relationship of the Courthouse is to the byway and the byway's intrinsic qualities and why it merits interpretation (e.g., is the Courthouse constructed of stone indigenous to the area and does this in some way support the byway's story to warrant interpretation of the stone construction techniques common to the area?)
