Examples of Grant Applications

Less Successful Example of an Abstract/Project Description:

This project will fund the implementation of the byway corridor management plan including interpretive project management, collateral material development, byway strategic planning and organization development, byway training and professional development, marketing, resource protection, accessibility, and safety improvement.

The project benefits the byway traveler by undergirding the intrinsic qualities upon which the designation was granted, increasing the availability of wayshowing and interpretive projects throughout the corridor, and strengthening the long term sustainability of the byway.

This example is less successful because it:

  • Is not well focused.  It lists a wide range of projects under the heading of "implementation of the byway corridor management plan"
  • Does not sufficiently document what the project will do (e.g., "undergirding the intrinsic qualities upon which the designation was granted").  See Project Summary section under Less Successful Example where it becomes clear that the funding requested is for general project management
