To applicants planning to submit a grant application for FY 2009, we have scheduled telephone Question + Answer sessions for the following dates and times:

Wednesday, January 7, 12 to 2pm: Writing a Good Application

Friday, January 9, 12 to 2pm: State and Tribal Programs and Corridor Management Plan Categories

Tuesday, January 27, 11am to 1pm: Safety Improvements and Byway Facilities Categories

Wednesday, January 28, 12 to 2pm: Access to Recreation and Resource Protection Categories

Friday, January 30, 12 to 2pm: Interpretive Information and Marketing Program Categories

Please familiarize yourself with the information available at www.bywaysonline.org/grants prior to each call. With the exception of “Writing a Good Application,” these sessions are not intended to be a “how-to” on the Grants process, but will offer participants an opportunity to come prepared with questions as a result of having read through the information. While your questions will be specific to your funding requests, we will not address the specifics of individual applications. However, your questions will be helpful, in a broader sense, to other applicants. If possible, we welcome questions in writing in advance to help better prepare thoughtful responses. That said, we may not be able to answer your questions directly during this session. If not, we will post the response to unanswered questions, as well as many of those posed during the sessions to http://www.bywaysonline.org/grants/ under “What We’ve Heard From You.”

Because of the potentially high level of interest and limited availability of lines, we ask that people working together on applications try to share a line to the extent practicable. We ask that primary participants be applicants; anyone who may be preparing information for the application itself, including consultants, is also welcome.

Please note, all call times are in Eastern Time. Please call 1-877-960-1403 and use passcode 6513759. There will be 45 lines available, which will be on a first come, first-served basis. If you are unable to get in to one of these calls, please e-mail cindi.ptak@dot.gov; we may schedule additional calls as a result. Please, no cell phones.

Thank you.
